"I took hundreds of photographs at The Lacquer Chest on various visits, trying to get to know its many nooks and crannies. Watching the sunlight move from the front of the building, where it bathed the glassware perched on glass shelves across the tall windows, to the back where it gave life to a yellow chair. It has a tranquil atmosphere, full of beautiful objects I wanted to take home. What a pity that they don't hire for private dinner parties."

DESIGN
The various graphic elements that make up this website are all taken from The Lacquer Chest itself - from found fragments of wallpaper or from the many textures and surfaces I photographed.

PATTERNS USED ON THE WEBSITE
Banner text > Taken from the old wooden fascia above the shop.
Wallpaper > The wallpaper image that appears as a base to each web page is an old wallpaper design that cover the walls on first floor provding a wonderful backdrop for their prop hire.
Navigation > The green rectangle behind the main site navigation is a beautiful ricketty, green metal table that stands below the window on the first floor.
Bottom page break > Iron-work that runs above the fascia of the shop.

Home page > A blue and white enamelled metal tray.
The Shop page > Stunning, swirling chocolate-like wallpaper.
Prop hire and Projects > Two of the many old, weathered characterful sheets of wood, used for photographic backdrops.
